1. OUCH Music Academy

Address: 10-01 VIDA, Jalan Ceylon, KL
Phone: +60 17 314 4081
Business Hours:
- Wednesday to Friday – 12 PM to 9 PM
- Saturday and Sunday – 9 AM to 6 PM
OUCH Music Academy stands out for a lot more than its quirky name. We noted that they’ve put real thought into creating a lively, cheerful environment with top-tier equipment.
Their staff is also packed with career musicians and trained educators. Another thing we like is how they design a personalized monthly lesson plan for every student instead of following a rigid curriculum.
To add, even the younger kids benefit from the Google Classroom system for assignments and feedback, a feature we haven’t encountered elsewhere.
Assessment is another strong suit—twice a year, everyone gets a check-in to measure progress and set new goals, and parents get a solid update too! Promotional afternoon rates are a big help as well, and we even saw several working adults taking advantage of evening sessions.
The only gripe from both potential students and a few parents is the “free” consultation—unless you actually sign up, there’s a small cost attached.
Excellent and professional instructors
“We love Ouch music Academy! My younger son joined academy when he was 4 years old. He succeeded very fast, passed the assessment and was allowed to choose instrument. The teachers and administrators of academy are professionals of their job. We really see how our son improving his ability to play music instrument. All members of the academy are very thoughtful, true professionals and really know how to make connections with kids of all ages. My son is very happy to attend classes of Ouch Music Academy.
The location is very convenient, academy itself is very lovely place that teach your kids music skills.”

Phone: +60 12 640 4742
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 1 PM to 9:30 PM

The Academy Music Center is big on making students feel at home, whether they’re literally starting from scratch or they’ve already got some performance chops. One thing we noticed right away is their openness about credentials.
Many on the team have backgrounds from respected music colleges, so no doubt about what they bring to the table. We also appreciated how good and clear they are at walking potential students through everything during the free 30-minute trial.
The academy also offers a good variety of singing styles, and the teachers—according to both parents and students we caught up with—are genuinely patient. Plus, classes here can be booked at different times throughout the week, which is a win for busy folks.
Meanwhile, we can’t help but notice that the center itself is clean, bright, and laid out for easy navigation.
Sadly, we’ve heard that updates can get lost in the shuffle. Some parents said reminders or changes to lessons sometimes slip through without much warning, so communication could definitely be clearer.
Friendly and accommodating staff
“My kid’s been coming here for more than a year. The teachers and staff are friendly and very accommodating when it comes to scheduling. Easy to deal with the admins via WhatsApp. Big plus is my kid always look forward to coming and never complained about class. The only minus is there’s so many steps 😝 (I’m just unfit) …”

3. Broadway Academy

Phone: +60 37 610 0879
Business Hours:
- Tuesday and Saturday – 10 AM to 6 PM
- Wednesday to Friday – 10 AM to 10 PM
Broadway Academy is definitely a favorite for anyone looking for singing lessons that go beyond the basics.
Digging into their programs, we realized there’s almost zero template teaching here; each lesson is super personal, built around whatever genres or goals students bring to the table.
The vibe from their coaching team came across as straight-up motivating, with most instructors having real-world stage experience or director credits. Because of this, it’s no wonder their classes are both practical and energizing.
Recent students we spoke to doubled down on how approachable the teachers are. Plus, a knack for breaking down tricky vocal stuff without burying everyone in technical jargon.
We also noticed scheduling options are accommodating, whether someone prefers group workshops or the privacy of one-to-one training. Just a heads up: their refund policy is locked in tight, so last-minute changes could get tricky.
Excellent classes variety
“Been with this Academy for 5 years and had good experiences of singing and learning to be a better chorister.
It gave me the opportunity to meet new friends , people of all races , nationalities and backgrounds who come together to sing in harmony.
My choir friends and I enjoyed a great trip to Cambodia recently participating in an international competition with wonderful memories.
Highly recommended as there are also many categories of choirs and classes for one to fit into.
Besides location is very convenient with a 10mins walk from MRT.”

Knowledgeable instructor
“I went to have a trial class in late February, enjoyed it so much, I signed up immediately for the Senior Choir. Dr. Casey is a very experienced Director, and I have learnt a few things from his teachings. Nana, the Academic Advisor is also very knowledgeable and I love Grace’s piano playing. The place exudes friendliness, love and patience. I always look forward to class on Fridays, and have gotten to know my fellow classmates, of all different background, race and religion. If you love to sing, come and join us, or the many other choirs available at Broadway Academy.
Music soothes the soul.”

4. Jacob Singing World

Address: 43-3-C, Jalan Metro Perdana 7, KL
Phone: +60 17 365 6238
Business Hours:
- Wednesday and Thursday – 3 PM to 10 PM
- Friday – 3:30 PM to 10 PM
- Saturday and Sunday – 10 AM to 6 PM
Jacob Singing World is the kind of place where decades of teaching really show—23 years, to be exact! It’s obvious the moment we visited the place and spotted those championship trophies lining the studio.
Moreover, their whole approach is built around something called the Magic Training Band System™. This might sound a bit fancy, but it basically means every session is methodical and grounded in real technical vocal training.
Their programs let students dig into vocal mechanics, breath control, and even get the chance to record music covers right in-house. In fact, a lot of students we spoke with said it helped them feel genuinely “industry-ready”.
We got the sense that Jacob’s instructors aren’t just know-it-alls—they actually care about long-term student progress and voice health.
That being said, it’s no secret that demand is high, so booking lessons well in advance is basically a must. Oh, and getting a last-minute slot is an uphill battle.
Effective lessons
“Hands down the best teacher we’ve encountered! My kid loves singing various genres, but was stuck at the same level for 6 years elsewhere.
The improvement in just a few months with Teacher Jacob is unbelievable.
He definitely is a fantastic singer who can actually demonstrate every technique he teaches.
As parents with a music background, we can confirm that his skills are truly world-class. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn to sing properly!”

Professional and punctual instructors
“Professional, punctual, and incredibly talented. What I appreciate most about Beverly is her ability to explain complex vocal concepts simply. She doesn’t just tell you what to do; she explains why and how it works physically. If you are serious about improving your voice. She is really good❣️”

5. S.A.M. Academy Music School

Address: 186-01 & 186, 02, Jalan Adda 7, Taman Adda, Johor Bahru
Phone: +60 18 388 4726
Business Hours:
- Monday – 12 PM to 5 PM
- Tuesday – 2 PM to 8 PM
- Wednesday – 11 AM to 9 PM
- Friday – 9 AM to 9 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 8:30 PM
- Sunday – 11 AM to 8:30 PM
S.A.M. Academy Music School has quietly held its own since 2000, and honestly, we get what the fuss is about. Everything here feels more like a creative workshop, with lessons often drifting from scales into music theory or some advice on how to handle stage jitters.
Students get routine chances to perform, whether it’s casual recitals, in-the-know competitions, or even bigger events. The teachers have a down-to-earth vibe, and we saw how invested they are in making sure everyone finds their voice, literally and figuratively.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team doesn’t approach things like a conveyor belt; it’s a more bespoke experience, with personal milestones to hit along the way.
Most parents we chatted with raved about how their kids went from being nervous first-timers to confidently singing on stage. This is probably thanks to lessons that focus as much on building up courage as hitting the right notes.
If there’s a gripe, it’d be that inquiry replies sometimes feel slow.
Patient and encouraging instructors
“My daughter takes piano, cello, and vocal classes here, and my son is learning piano and cello as well. Both of them are really happy and excited to come for lessons every week. The teachers are patient and encouraging, and I like that the school organizes frequent events and small performances so the kids get used to playing in front of others. They also have competitions for students who want to challenge themselves and improve. We’re very happy with the school and grateful for the positive learning environment.”
