5 Fantastic Preschools in Kuala Lumpur to Send Your Kids At

Licensing – We only sought out KL preschools that are duly licensed to operate by the Ministry of Education.

Teacher-Student Ratio – The number of students per class can certainly affect the capability of the teacher to teach and the students to learn. Preschools with the most ideal (smallest) ratios are our gold in our books.

Curriculum and Teaching Philosophy – Early childhood education is actually pretty complex, contrary to popular belief. A good curriculum backed by a sound teaching philosophy is important in making the younger generation ready for life.

Quality of Facilities – Good teaching and a suitable environment come hand in hand in good education, which is why we also examined each preschool’s facilities.

Class Atmosphere – Lastly, we sought the answer to the most important question: do students enjoy going to their respective preschools? Clearly, places with a good class atmosphere landed on our list.

Parents just want the best for their kids, whether that may be in clothing, food, or even education. So it isn’t surprising that most families nowadays send their kids not just to school but also to tutoring sessions to help them get the highest grades!

What about kids that are way too young for primary school? Well, there’s preschool.

We’re here to help parents choose the top preschools in Kuala Lumpur to send their kids to. Nothing but the best in the list below.

How much is the cost of a private preschool in Kuala Lumpur?

Sending your kids to a private preschool in Kuala Lumpur may cost between RM 500 and RM 3,000. The more expensive ones are typically more premium and have an international style of education.

JoyKids is a very beautiful place for young children to learn, set within the Club in Bandar Utama. Children here benefit from access to rare preschool facilities, like an art studio, swimming pool, dance studio, and various sports courts.

However, since these facilities are shared with the country club, activities and scheduling can sometimes be tricky. Even so, we get why JoyKids is still very popular with both parents and kids.

First, we saw its inclusive, caring environment that focuses on Montessori methods and thematic integrated learning. We also like that classes are intentionally small, with just 10 students per class, so teachers can give more focused attention.

No need to worry about daily snacks too, since these are already provided. Special dietary needs can also be arranged.

As an international preschool, we understand why the fees are on the higher end. We just hope that access to facilities will improve.

Pros

  • International school
  • Montessori methods
  • Caring, skilled teachers
  • Has special facilities
  • Snacks available
  • Small class size

Cons

  • Expensive fees
  • Shared facilities

If you’re looking for premium preschool education with a local flair, Taska Precious Steps (TPS) might be the best choice for you and your kids. This Montessori has been around since 2009, bringing plenty of experience with young children.

Classes here focus mainly on self-development, creative activity, and sports in a very conducive environment. We think this approach is really geng, although things can get quite expensive.

TPS also offers enrichment classes (beyond the regular preschool sessions) like Mandarin, speech and drama, as well as arts and crafts. These extras help broaden kids’ horizons in ways just as fun.

We appreciate the genuine dedication and care of the staff that parents have observed. Now isn’t that what we all want our children to experience outside home?

Unlike other places we’ve seen, though, TPS caters to kids aged four to six years—so their services are truly just for preschool education.

Pros

  • 15+ years in operations
  • Montessori learning
  • Enrichment classes
  • Skilled and caring staff

Cons

  • Strictly for 4–6-year-olds
  • Can get expensive

A place that will help your kids grow into their full potential

“[If] you’re looking for a place that will help your children grow into their full potential; where they are nurtured and encouraged by love, not fear; and where they will develop the necessary character and skills to succeed in school and in life – the independence to handle their own work, the ability and willingness to take on responsibility, the empathy that makes them care for others, the courage to face new challenges, the determination to persevere when the going gets tough, and the strength to get up when they fail – then look no further. You won’t find much better than TPS.”

Wonderful environment with learning and fun

“Wonderful environment for children’s learning. Noted with my granddaughter 4yrs old, her progress in reading and comprehension in both English and Mandarin. Her social interactions in meeting and making new friends via the classroom and the school activities. Photo showed a learning and fun trip to the local firestation.”

Award-winning education is VIP Kindergarten’s forte. It’s been teaching children for over 15 years under the multiple intelligences (MI) education philosophy and nurturing both IQ and EQ.

We found their approach remarkable because we agree with the belief that children have different strengths that should be lifted through thoughtful instruction.

However, we also think that Malaysian Chinese families will like them better as they’re a great option for getting ready for the Chinese vernacular education path. Add to that the Montessori learning materials, and we think kids will get the best of both worlds.

The parents we spoke to have a few complaints about sending their children here. It somehow tracks since the environment is spacious, the staff consistently gives updates on the kids, and the classes are well-structured.

If your child needs education suitable for gifted learners, VIP might not be the best fit. Classes here are grouped by age.

Pros

  • Over 15 years running
  • MI, IQ, and EQ focus
  • SJK(C) and Montessori learning
  • Spacious preschool
  • Consistent updates via app

Cons

  • No special classes for gifted learners

Superb system that improved my child two months in

“My child is in the kindy program. Young and attentive teacher, breaking away from conventional teaching attitude. Love the daily updates, from photos to videos on food, lessons and play moments. Monthly update from teacher on progress of child. The method here also focuses to prep child for standard 1 Chinese school. Observed huge improvement in my child two months in after joining. Kudos to the teacher chang and team! Superb education system!”

For the most accessible preschool out there, Little Playhouse should definitely be on your radar. Its Menara Shell branch sits right in the KL Sentral area, making it super convenient and popular for both kids and their busy parents.

Even though it’s in such a busy neighbourhood, its facilities look modern and well-kept. The experienced staff seems to manage everything smoothly, making kids feel comfy and removed from the fact that they’re just near a huge train transport hub.

Little Playhouse caters to children from just three months up to six years old. This really makes it perfect for parents needing both daycare and proper early education support.

We also think that its education approach is well-rounded. The preschool follows the Cambridge Early Years and Malaysia’s KSPK framework.

That said, although we hope for it, we get that because of the urban environment, there are no outdoor play sessions in this preschool.

Pros

  • Highly accessible location
  • Daycare and preschool
  • Uses Cambridge and Malaysian frameworks
  • Modern facilities
  • Skilled teachers
  • Affordable pricing

Cons

  • No outdoor play
  • High demand

Easy to find and affordable

“Professional child and infant care in kl sentral area. It’s at 4th floor of menara She’ll, quite easy to find. They have different facilities and syllabus to cater different age of children. Fee is less than RM2k which is affordable.”

– Kun Tek NG, Google Review

A Kid’s Cove in Bangsar offers a more holistic and natural way of learning for young kids. This institution caught our attention because of the diversity of its enrollees and the variety of services it provides.

It looks like your typical home preschool, but it actually offers infant care along with preschool classes (a.k.a. everything between daycare and early childhood education).

Parents we’ve chatted with seem to love sending their kids here because of the high-quality teaching, utmost attention, and genuine care their children receive every day.

We also like how A Kid’s Cove provides plenty of enrichment activities, like taekwondo and swimming classes, overnight stay parties, and institutional field trips for their kids. These experiences help kids grow not just academically but also socially.

The warm environment and well-rounded approach really make it a great place for young children.

Pros

  • Babysitting, daycare, and preschool
  • Diverse enrollment
  • Highly skilled and caring teachers
  • Great extracurricular activities

Cons

  • Location might not suit everyone

Warm and caring environment

“The teachers at Kids Cove are truly loving and very attentive. While learning is important, I believe providing a warm and caring environment for children is just as essential—and Kids Cove has managed to do both beautifully. I always feel assured knowing my kids are in safe and caring hands here. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a nurturing place for their little ones!”

– Casey Wong, Google Review

A remarkable and diverse place to grow

“We’ve been in Kid’s Cove for about 2 years now. It was and is an amazing experience as we saw our kid growing up in a very diverse environment. He makes friends there and by extension we make friends with their parents, dreaming of how these kids will grow up together and go to uni together. Truly a remarkable place, if you want your kid to grow in body, spirit and creativity, Kid’s Cove is for you”
