We had a really good vibe checking out Swimin12, especially after seeing their safe, spacious pool that doesn’t feel overwhelming for beginners and is well-maintained.

What really surprised us was how much energy the coaches put into helping anyone anxious about water. In fact, they have staff trained in student psychology, so families told us their kids with autism or ADHD clicked with the teachers almost instantly.

It’s just as inclusive for adults who’ve had lifelong water fears, too, and we saw progression happening really fast! Swimin12 even has a competitive program led by an actual Olympian coach and a bunch of flexible lesson structures.

Communication-wise, booking a spot or even just throwing questions their way on WhatsApp is super smooth. Now, a minor hitch is the pool rental fee, even for trials—it’s not huge, but it’s there from the get-go.

Still, everyone we chatted to seemed happy to pay it, considering the flexibility with scheduling.

Pros

  • Certified, supportive coaches
  • Safe, spacious pool
  • Inclusive for special needs
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Quick WhatsApp replies
  • Fast skill progression

Cons

  • Pool rental fee

Excellent facilities

“This is my very first Open Sea Swimming.

I’m truly grateful for the strong support from the Swim12, which provides a positive training environment with excellent facilities that allow us to run our programs effectively.

Our EVO Coach Eric, Senior Coach William went above and beyond—sacrificing thier own personal time to train us, pushing limits, and even helping other coaches break their own personal time records. This level of dedication, teamwork, and passion is what makes the program so special.”

Swim Life Academy is perfect for anyone who loves the idea of swimming lessons coming to them. We specifically appreciate them for making learning at home totally manageable.

Whether it’s in a private condo pool or bungalow, nobody ever has to deal with an overpacked lane. Swim Life also offers sessions for babies as young as six months up to adults who might’ve doubted they’d ever learn.

Students mentioned learning actual strokes—front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke—within just a handful of sessions.

The fact that there’s a friendly refund or free extra lessons if things don’t work out also speaks volumes about how much they stand by their methods. Scheduling couldn’t be more flexible, with coaches offering sessions every day, all day.

On the flip side, we did hear a couple of lessons ended a few minutes ahead of the 50-minute mark. Though this rarely felt like a major loss, especially considering how focused and productive classes were.

Pros

  • Home-based lessons
  • All ages welcomed
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Patient instructors
  • Results guarantee

Cons

  • Lessons occasionally shortened

All Blue Swimming Academy’s coaching team follows the American SSI teaching method. This means students are getting more than just the basics—they’re big on building confidence and making sure progress feels natural, not rushed.

Hanging out at their indoor pool, we saw firsthand how the smaller setup gives parents peace of mind. But heads up, it has less shallow water, which calls for some extra attention.

Nonetheless, we picked up a lot of great feedback from parents there. A lot highlighted how their kids are breezing through strokes at a pace that really surprised them, with some managing all four main strokes in just a few months.

It’s not just for little ones, too; they throw in water aerobics and dance for adults! Plus, their free trial classes are a nice touch.

One thing to note: the facilities are pretty straightforward, with limited restrooms. Also, weekday sessions book up fast—but if you can swing a weekend, there’s a lot more flexibility.

Pros

  • American SSI system
  • Focus on confidence
  • Indoor pool
  • Free trial classes
  • Water aerobic dance

Cons

  • Basic facilities
  • Limited weekday slots
  • Shallow pool concerns

Encouraging instructors

“All the coaches very nice, patient and encouragement. They will continue to improve and enhance their teaching methods to help kids learn swimming.”

Having been in the game since 2002, Aqua Spirit is a familiar face in the swimming community—and their self-heating saltwater indoor pool is honestly a standout. Whether it’s pouring or blazing outside, lessons go on comfortably, and the water doesn’t have that usual chemical sting.

The pool’s clean, comfortably warm, and situated conveniently within a shophouse, so parking isn’t much of a hassle. We also noted that there are a few cafes nearby for parents needing a coffee break between sessions.

Moreover, we really liked just how involved the coaches are—they help students with every little detail, from mastering breathing to getting strokes right. We’re glad that a lot of parents we spoke to appreciated the visible results in just a few classes.

Safety is well covered, too—lifeguards are always on duty, and class sizes are kept reasonable for better supervision. Unfortunately, it gets quite busy, and high demand means you’ll need to book early if you want your preferred slot.

Pros

  • Hands-on instruction
  • Saltwater heated pool
  • Indoor pool
  • Lifeguard supervision
  • Rapid student progress

Cons

  • High demand

Patient and professional coaches

“The coaches are so patient and professional at all times which to make u learn swimming at ease ! During the class is always fun and interesting. Don’t be shy to ask any questions as the coaches are approachable. There is a guaranteed lesson for beginners. Definitely the best place to learn swimming. Shower facilities is provided as well. ( and complimentary biscuit after class )

Entertaining lessons

“I used to afraid of water since young age, but both coaches Angela and John are so patient on instruct the skills to me step by step. I didn’t expect myself to learn backstroke and butterfly at the age of 30 and it definitely boost a lot of my self confidence. Much credit to both especially Angela, love how entertaining she is in the class. For those who intend to learn how to swim you will never regret on choosing them.”

RNJ Swimming Academy really feels like a city swim hub on another level. The place was buzzing with all sorts—babies having their first splashes, teens perfecting strokes, even adults just getting started.

The whole operation is run around this 53-step learning system, designed by an Olympic coach. We all agreed that this sets a nice rhythm for people who like structure (or those who like knowing exactly which step comes next).

It’s clear they’re ready for numbers, too. The pools are big and indoors, and the atmosphere is neat and energetic. Plus, every student gets free access to whatever swim aids or gear are needed.

Furthermore, registration didn’t feel like a maze, and responses from the team came back quickly—no chasing up or waiting around. However, we’ve heard that instructors often rotate quickly.

For some, this can feel a bit like starting over, which isn’t always ideal if someone’s counting on one coach. Nevertheless, most students had good things to say—especially about the academy giving back with orphanage programs and B40 discounts.

Pros

  • Olympic-level program
  • Indoor heated pool
  • All-ages classes
  • Free equipment
  • Ample parking
  • Clean environment

Cons

  • Rotating instructors

Nice booking flexibility

“I like da flexibility of the class booking and arrangement including availability of rescheduling (at least 48 hours before da class) which suit the busy lifestyle nowadays.”

Attentive instructor

“I attended classes because I wanted to improve on my strokes and swim more efficiently. And I accomplished that with the help of coach Lisa. She was most attentive and knowledgeable and giving me constructive feedback which I appreciate.”
