The Top 5 Canine Experts We Trust for Dog Training in Kuala Lumpur
These days, having a pet dog is a life choice more and more people embrace. It’s a challenge as well, since teaching a puppy how to behave and do a trick or two isn’t easy—you may end up saying ‘alamak’ all the time, lah!
For instance, my sister just got herself a little Shih Tzu who, unfortunately, loves asking for his hooman’s food and isn’t potty-trained. Kesian my sister lah, had to deal with that super rowdy dog until we found her a dog trainer in Kuala Lumpur.
So, if you want to save yourself from some headache and from becoming a full-time waste management person just cleaning up after your dog relieves themselves at the wrong place, have a look at this list of the best trainers around.
What is the average price of dog training in Kuala Lumpur?
The average price of dog training in Kuala Lumpur is around RM500 to RM1,500 for a series of group classes.
The figure can go higher for around RM 1,000 to RM 2,500 for one-on-one speciality training (e.g., aggression, agility, or advanced obedience).
1. Dave Teoh Academy (KNINE DOG SERVICES)

Location: Lot 254, Jalan Kbk 5, Kampung Baru Kundang, 48020 Rawang, Selangor
Contact: 010-225 5319, [email protected]
Dave Teoh has been a professional dog trainer since 2008. Between beginning his trainer journey at the young age of 13 and having now trained over 11,000 dogs worldwide, he’s clearly a standout in the pet community, lah!
We can thank Mr Teoh’s real love of dogs and learning for this status. His compassionate methods that don’t rely on treats but on canine psychology-backed cues offer better guidance to both pets and owners.
House calls are among the most popular options in his academy, which is typically 11 days of 30-minute sessions. We love that they’re done at home, allowing dogs to learn in their own familiar environment.
For more pressing issues like aggression, there’s a four to five-week on-board training available, too. While we wish that its boarding kennel is much nearer to central KL, we understand that such a distance will help maintain pets’ focus in rehabilitating habits.
Very effective, even in quick sessions
“Very effective, just for 30 minutes and my furkids have learnt to 3 tricks like not eating food on the floor unless we gave it to them, not going out the door and walk beside us. They became very obedient, even when the trainer left. Satisfied.”

Forever grateful for setting up pup for life
“Dave and his team of professionals helped me and my wife learn best practices to develop my toy poodle to be the best version of himself over a period of 4 months.
My 10-month-old pup is now set for life!
We are forever grateful!”

2. E-K9 Dog Training Center

Location: 106, Jalan PUJ 8/9, Taman Puncak Jalil, 43300 Seri Kembangan, Selangor
Contact: 16-331 8168, [email protected]
Business hours: Daily – 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Eyson Teh of E-K9 is a true dog lover who turned his passion into a full-fledged business. Since converting part of his home into canine pro training grounds in 2019, he’s been handling dogs of all breeds and sizes with utmost dedikasi.
E-K9 offers basic puppy training, obedience classes, behaviour modification, and even agility sessions that help dogs become sharp and happy. We really like his friendly vibe towards dogs and his strong focus on positive reinforcement.
That said, Mr Teh doesn’t have formal certifications, which surely would raise some eyebrows. However, we can’t really ignore his over 10 years of hands-on experience, starting with his own dogs, who are just a lovely, obedient bunch!
We also can’t shake off the anecdotes we heard from his clients. Some who tried certified trainers before with no results called him a “Hail Mary”, a final try that actually worked. Perhaps his own specialised approach helps him connect better with dogs.
Very happy with results!
“My puppy began training at 3 months old, and her obedience improved tremendously. The trainer is patient, knowledgeable, and great with dogs. Very happy with the results — highly recommended!”

3. Doggy School Bus (DSB), Petaling Jaya

Location: 18, Jalan Penchala, Seksyen 51, 46050 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Contact: 17-515 8157 (Whatsapp)
Business hours: Daily – 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Doggy School Bus is famous for its dog daycare (not the human kind) and boarding, as well as for the namesake ‘yellow bus’ (strictly speaking, it’s really a van) picking up and dropping off its furry clients at their homes. Super convenient for busy pet owners, lah!
Besides accommodation, DSB offers basic manners training at RM100 per 60-minute session, and agility training for RM1,000 covering six sessions in 3 weeks. These are all done in an open-air, grassy environment.
Do note that there are extra charges for dogs over 12kg (26lbs), food, nappies for puppies still not potty-trained, and even booking peak season or holiday slots. We definitely heard you gasp (We did the first time!), but at least they’re upfront about it.
Still, owners rave that DSB’s training really works wonders in making dogs more obedient. Their doggie graduates also seem to be more sociable with humans and other dogs—a win-win, despite the said concern about fees.
Surprisingly, trained my dog within a day to mingle with others
“This is my first experience leaving my dog at Doggy School Bus and I must say I am very happy with their services. It’s a very big area for your babies to play around. They do make them run and play with all of them to make sure everyone gets along.
My dog was not ok with any other dog, used to get into fights but surprisingly they trained him in such a way that within a day, he was mingling with a few of them. I am quite happy with my decision to send him there and will continue this.”

Great support easing pup into household through basic obedience training
“Doggy School Bus is Finn’s happiest place on earth. Amanda and the team are helpful, caring, and professional. Amanda was a great support in helping us ease Finn into our household during the trial adoption period through her basic obedience training. She gave detailed daily updates and was generous with her time and most importantly, advice. She is dedicated to what she does and truly cares for the animals. Once Finn settled into our home, we signed up for daycare. DSB’s warm, wonderful nannies share plenty of updates throughout the day so we know how Finn is doing and whether he’s getting along well with other dogs. Finn is a high-energy dog. The outdoor daycare area in PJ perfectly meets his needs to safely and freely roam. He’s been having so much fun there! We can work peacefully knowing that our boy is well taken care of – he goes into deep sleep every night after daycare! Highly recommended.”

4. Barked Club

Location: Glo Damansara Shopping Mall, Petaling Jaya, 47400 Damansara, Selangor
Contact: 012-488 7293, [email protected]
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday – 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Sunday – CLOSED
Barked Club is the brainchild of animal lover Jac Benita Paul. She prides herself on being the first animal behaviour professional in Malaysia certified by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC)– a very solid foundation.
We think of the service as a life coach, but for dogs (okay, and for owners, too). Instead of just fixing surface issues, Jac believes that a truly obedient dog is one well understood by its humans; thus, her methods employ interpretation and communication.
We like her offer of a free 30-minute call to understand your dog’s issues and your goals before recommending a plan. Depending on your needs, she may suggest online lessons, in-home visits, or on-board group classes.
Barked Club’s rates are quite budget-friendly, with the online training costing RM100 per session and group training around RM450. House calls are around RM215-250, but only available to dogs living within 20km (12mi) of the Barked Club office in Damansara.
Helped us understand our dog’s needs and behavior
“We are so grateful to have found Jackie of BarkedClub ! Jackie’s training has helped us understand what our dog needs from us and to understand his behavior. The training is kind, compassionate, firm, playful and most importantly, advocates for dogs and their humans. We are learning so much and are happy to recommend Jackie and BarkedClub!”

Me and my dog learnt so much in the 6-week group training
“My dog, Arthur and I have been attending the Barked Club’s 6 week group training sessions at temu house and we love it.
We’ve made some friends. Me at least and Arthur is even more relaxed around other dogs except when he’s at home and there’s a fence in between.
We’ve both learnt so much and have been able to put to practice the regular lessons.
He sits faster now and I’ve learnt how to be calmer and more confident when handling him. We’ve both benefited a lot.
We will both miss our weekly sessions but will sign up for future follow up sessions with Jac.”

5. Stephen Guard Dogs

Location: Jalan Bukit Hatamas, Taman Cuepacs, 43200 Cheras, Selangor

Business hours:
- Tuesday to Sunday – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

One of the real OGs in Malaysia’s pet and guard dog scene is Stephen Guard Dogs (SGD). If you’ve been around these circles for a bit, you’ve probably heard the name already, including its over 40 years of experience and a tip-top reputation.
We’re glad to know that SGD’s training matches US and Dutch standards, so no matter the cost of training, we see this quality as an assurance of results.
It’s worth noting that SGD handles everything, from cuddly toy poodles to ‘aggressive’ breeds like Rottweilers. From our research and surveys, we were happy to find that they became obedient to their owners but fierce against actual threats.
However, we wonder why it still keeps this wide range, even though it can now focus only on security or sniffer dog contracts. Maybe that’s their actual mission: to commit to all pet owners in need, not just profit from high-end contracts.
My German Shepherd is well-behaved now
“Good trainers. I sent my boy Hammer(German Shepherd-6months) and he is well behaved now.”

I saw a calmer and gentler puppy after training her at Stephen Guard Dog
“I couldn’t be happier to send my puppy to Stephen Guard Dog for obedience training. Diva was very hyper, jumps a lot and pulls heavily when out for walk. Prior going here, she was sent to another training centre and the dog came back with not much difference from how she was prior to training. It was such a big disappointment. Now after she has completed training at Stephen, i see a completely a different dog. So much calmer and gentler. She listens well to commands and good at walking.
Thank You Stephen Guard Dogs team for the great service. I’d definitely recommend this place for any kind of dog trainings.”
