After our house renovation, my parents decided to invest in custom wooden furniture for a classic feel. They asked me for help in finding the best carpenters in Malaysia who offer expert craftsmanship, a good work ethic, and fair pricing.
So I began my search and asked for help from my team in identifying and reviewing service providers. My parents ended up happy with the supplier they went with, and I couldn’t help but want to share our list with you!

How much does it cost to hire a carpenter in Malaysia?
On average, hiring a carpenter can cost around RM50 to RM150 per hour. This can even go higher depending on the complexity of the task, projected timeline, labor costs, and skill level of the carpenter.
To get a more accurate picture of the total cost, it’s best to have an honest conversation with the service provider and ask for a detailed quotation.

Carpenter King caught our eye because of their excellent carpentry and interior design services, so we decided to check them out. What we like about them is how they’re able to capture the unique visions of their clients and execute them seamlessly.
They’re a relatively new company, with six years of carpentry-specific experience, but they have built a solid reputation in Selangor. From what we’ve seen, their work is clean, polished, and aesthetically pleasing.
We also appreciate how intentional they are with customer service. We saw this from our very first consultation – they were attentive, accommodating, and even offered to give a free 3D design of our project for better visualization.
We noticed that they offer reasonable packages for apartments, townhouses, and terraces, which include many freebies. Pricing is also reasonable overall. Their carpenters were professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of the house.
While we didn’t need after-sales services, we were glad to know from their previous clients that they were responsive and easy to work with for post-project concerns.
The overall process was fairly well organized
This year, my wife and I renovated our home at D’Quince. As usual, I conducted thorough research on Google to find a company that could meet our requirements while staying within our budget. Eventually, we came across The Carpenter King.
My wife was particularly impressed with their wide range of materials, which matched her preferences perfectly. The pricing was also reasonable. From planning, site visits, drawings, installation, to quality control, the overall process was fairly well organized, and communication was generally satisfactory.
The entire journey took quite some time, as we first engaged them in February before Ramadan, and everything was only completed in August. There were a few hiccups along the way. For example, some laminated materials we ordered were out of stock, which delayed installation. In addition, quotation revisions had to be done multiple times due to manual costing calculations.
That said, their workmanship was impressive. Clean, neat, and professional. Special thanks to Mr. Syed Arif and Mr. Amir for their patience and professionalism in handling our requests. Mr. Syed Arif, in particular, stood out with his valuable experience and creative ideas in designing beautiful, functional cabinetry with suitable materials. Would I recommend them to others? Absolutely!

Luxe Loft Concept specializes in custom cabinet-making and helps with space planning and designing.
We first heard of them because our teammate’s family hired them for their house renovation. They wanted a sleek and modern look for their cabinets, and Luxe Loft Concept delivered!
Their prices are on the expensive side, but hearing how efficient and stress-free their services are, we can say it’s worth the investment.
We checked out their work and saw that the craftsmanship was immaculate. You can tell that the carpenters were precise, highly skilled, and did not cut corners. The end results look professional and elevated the ambience of the space.
Based on our teammate’s feedback, the work was done efficiently and even earlier than the projected timeline. Luxe Loft Concept was also very patient, even when they had to make sudden changes. The experience was highly personalized.
While they can make any type of cabinet, shelf, or bench you need, we do wish they had a wider range of services.
Would recommend them – especially for slightly higher-end rental unit renovations
LuxeLoft provides great options for built-in carpentry work and the prices are very reasonable. Marcus was very helpful and completed the deliverables on time as planned.
We amended our quotation a few times and he was very patient with the changes and provided good advice in our design and planning phase. Luxeloft provided the drawings for our confirmation before starting production work, which was great. but we wish we were advised better on the wardrobe’s door handles (we sacrificed ergonomics for aesthetics), which in hindsight would have done differently. (Note: we need to give Marcus the benefit of the doubt as we did rush them to meet our timelines).

One of our friends loves Muji-inspired aesthetics, so Cabin Studio was a perfect fit for her. This end-to-end service provider specializes in minimalist and modern custom-made furniture, such as cabinets.
Based on her feedback, working with them was a breeze, and the customer service was attentive and intentional. This is apparent not just during the initial consultations, but also in how their in-house defect team resolves issues.
Upon comparing her pegs and the final look, we saw how they were able to perfectly execute the vision and even improved it by tailoring it to maximize her space. They offer interior design services at no cost when you hire them.
Their services are high-end, but they offer set packages at different price points depending on complexity. They have full design plans for townhouses, living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens.
If we were to nitpick, we wish they had a wider color palette for their packages. Right now, they only have four color options, which can be limiting.
We recently worked with Desmond from Cabin Studio to design and build our home cabinetry, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Desmond provided excellent insights and practical advice throughout the process. He was extremely patient, taking the time to answer all our questions and addressing any concerns we had along the way. His dedication to making sure our vision was achieved made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
The overall pricing was reasonable and, in our opinion, quite affordable given the high-quality materials and workmanship. The finished cabinets are both stylish and durable. While Rekabinet Industries is more well-known for its interior design services, we were pleasantly surprised to know it also excels in renovation, cabinetry design, and installation. We heard about them from our office manager, who worked with them for a few projects.
When we checked out their work, we were impressed with the staff’s expertise and professionalism. They took the time to understand the office’s requirements and use cases, offering comprehensive services to make the space functional and personalized.
We also saw their finished products, including some bespoke furniture, and the carpentry is top-notch. You can see the meticulous attention to detail and use of high-quality materials. Their prices are reasonable, given the great service and quality of raw materials.
They also have a wide range of designs and furniture packages depending on the housing type. So if you’re unsure about what you want, you have loads of options.
While our office manager didn’t experience it, we saw some reports of unexpected delays due to limited manpower. So it’s crucial to discuss the timeline before the work starts.

I had a great experience with Rekabinet. Communication with Zahirah was so smooth — she’s very well-versed and answered every question I had with clarity. I really appreciate their transparency in pricing, even for the small details, which made the whole process feel honest and professional.
Although the completion took some time due to their in-house contractors’ limited availability (and having to outsource, which caused some delays and quality issues), Rekabinet was always responsive and attentive to my feedback. EverKitchen Design is one of the best suppliers of custom-made cabinets. We hired them for our family home a year ago and can vouch for their reliability and efficient service.
We were impressed by the attention to detail and the amazing craftsmanship in every piece of furniture they made. Most of their designs are elegant and classy, all while being reasonably priced.
We also liked that the whole process from consultation to installation was seamless. The installers were also punctual, respectful, and quick.
While we only needed custom cabinets at the time, it was nice to know that they also offered roofing and flooring, electrical work, curtains and blinds, extension work, loose furniture services, painting services, plumbing, among others.
They’re a good one-stop shop for all kinds of home improvement services. While they’re a great overall, we noticed that they can get busy and sometimes take some time to reply to concerns. If you’re on a tight project schedule, this is something to consider.
