ZA Golf Academy, which is inside the Daiman 18 Golf Club, proudly positions itself as one of the best golf academies in Johor Bahru, especially as its reputation grows in 2026.
Dubbing itself as the “first high-tech golf academy,” initially had our eyes rolling, but we have to give credit where it’s due after seeing it with our own eyes. The facilities and tech here truly live up to the claim.
We’re thoroughly impressed by the advanced tech here, including Foresight GC, Sam Putt Lab, and Trackman 4.
Since it’s led by Coach Zafran Abdullah, who is also the head coach of Sukma Golf Johor (the state’s team for the Malaysian Games), we’re glad to know we’re in expert hands.
There’s personalised training in person and online, with small class sizes to make sure every student gets proper attention. The average program runs for about 4 weeks, but longer programs up to 20 sessions are also available.

If you’re a total beginner hesitant to commit to formal golf lessons, we highly suggest dropping by MST Golf Arena at Toppen Center for a day or two. This indoor golf space is owned by one of the biggest golf retail names in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
This particular branch is called an “arena” because it combines a retail shop for golf gear, an indoor golf space, and a coaching venue under one roof. We’re glad to find that the lessons here are personalised and given by knowledgeable and patient instructors.
One thing we like most about the approach here is the presence of baseline testing. The Arena is partnered with Foresight Sports, so you can be sure your swing analysis is as accurate as it gets for proper handicap measurement and feedback from day one.
Just note that many corporate clients frequent the Arena, but it can also be a good place for junior golf lessons.

Ponderosa is one of the most popular outdoor golfing destinations in JB. It features a well-maintained 18-hole par 72 course, which makes every round feel as official as it gets.
While most regulars here are members, we’re glad to find that visitors are welcome. (Coming along with a member even gets you a highly discounted rate, by the way.)
Ponderosa is usually rife with international clientele, giving it a lively and diverse atmosphere. Thus, we totally get why the large, veteran PGAM-member coaching team here is well-rounded for golfers of any level or nationality.
We love the flexibility of the coaching setup, too. You can have private coaching sessions, do it via a buddy system, or even get a single coach for a small group.
Since this is a formal country club, caddies are part of the experience. Do prepare to set aside cash for tips—appreciation for the help on the green.

Another indoor golf venue worth visiting to sharpen your game is SKYPARK at Mount Austin. Since it’s under one of Korea’s biggest names in golf simulations, it’s visited by both Malaysians and Koreans keen to unwind while landing balls on virtual courses.
You can get one-on-one golf lessons here that are fully suited to your skill level (just like how it’s done by gym personal trainers).
The lessons can even be in either English, Chinese, or Korean, depending on which of the PGAM-certified instructors you’re paired with.
The facility itself looks great overall, though some areas do already have noticeable wear and tear. Nonetheless, that doesn’t subtract much from the overall value of the place.
To add, the indoor course simulations are still sharp and impressively realistic, and the swing analysis tech delivers solid feedback. We’re quite impressed that the Korean standard of indoor golf is easily available in Johor Bahru.
