When my childhood best friend asked me to be her maid of honor recently, I was beyond thrilled. We must have shrieked for two minutes straight, followed by a lot of tears. Ah, weddings, what a time to be alive.
As part of the preparations, I’m currently helping them look at wedding venues in Johor Bahru and check out other suppliers. Good thing there are quite a lot to choose from in the area.
Since we can’t keep this to ourselves, we decided to share this with other couples and families as a helpful resource. So here’s a run-through of the best wedding venues in JB with our honest thoughts!
The Rome Garden

The Rome Garden features a spacious air-conditioned banquet hall with an ancient Roman theme and a lawn that can be used flexibly depending on your preference.
Meaning, you can choose to hold the ceremony outside and the reception and dinner inside the ballroom. The vibe is classy yet fun, with plenty of room for customization and even out-of-the-box wedding themes.
It’s perfect for big weddings because it can accommodate 50 to 400 people. The food is great, with Western and Chinese buffet options.
As for the features, they have a giant LED screen for those same-day-edit videos and presentations, a good PA system, and a stage.

DoubleTree by Hilton is one of the most accessible venues on this list, being just 11 minutes away from the train station. They regularly hold showcases, with Malay, Chinese, and Western wedding theme options.
They have three venues: an intimate poolside restaurant, and two ballrooms with a classic look and a wood finish. The maximum capacity of the venue is 750 guests.
The overall vibe is modern and luxurious. The staff is very hands-on and well-trained for special events, which is evident in the way they deal with guests.
The food is superb, but also quite pricey. We appreciate that they offer food from various cuisines, allowing you to mix and match.

They have three wedding halls to choose from: Alamanda Hall, a grand ballroom with an elegant feel; Oxford Hall, a spacious banquet hall that can accommodate up to 1000 guests; and Gerbang Kayangan Hall, a ballroom with a modern touch.
They have a catering option, but the choices are mostly traditional Malaysian food. If you want more options, you’ll have to contact their sales representative directly.

Pulai Springs Resort

Pulai Springs Resort caught our eye because of their traditional Malay wedding packages. Do note that some packages require a minimum number of guests before you can avail of them.
They have spacious ballroom spaces that can accommodate anywhere from 40 to 650 guests. The ballrooms are luxurious with giant chandeliers, draped ceilings, and velvet seat covers.
As for the catering, they have three different set menus to choose from: an 8-course Chinese set menu, an international wedding buffet menu, a BBQ menu, and a Malay set menu.
The overall vibe of the place is serene and relaxing, with lots of greenery and beautiful terraces.

If you’re looking for a garden venue with beautiful flowers and just the right touch of whimsy, Strait Hills Villa is a great option. The garden can accommodate about 10 tents and can be designed any way you want.
The venue is versatile; it can handle intimate weddings, tea parties, or grand events. It’s easily accessible, too.
As for the packages, Straits Hill offers tiered ones that include decorations, accommodation, chair and table set up, catering, photo and video, and more. While you can get different suppliers, it’s convenient that you have an option to go with one supplier for everything.

Amari is a chic hotel with an elegant and luxurious feel. It’s an 8-minute walk from the train station. So if you’re prioritizing accessibility, this is a great find.
The numerous ballrooms and banquet halls here look exquisite, with theatre-style banquet halls and bright chandeliers. Overall, this is the ideal venue if you want a classic setup that looks almost fairytale-like. Some options can even accommodate up to 400 people!
As for the food, they Asian and Western buffet options that you can choose from. Their table setting doesn’t disappoint, either.
If you’re staying here before and after the wedding, you can also enjoy the different amenities they offer, such as a spa, a beautiful pool, gym access, and an outdoor cocktail bar.

Galaxy Glasshouse by Diva

Booking this venue comes with round tables and chair rentals, a cake table, all decorations, a bridal dressing room, a PA system with a technician, spotlights, a projector, security and event crew, and parking.
The hall has a capacity of over 55 tables and can accommodate anywhere from 200 to 1000 guests.

The venue can accommodate anywhere from 50 to 800 people, and their packages are varied enough to accommodate various needs, depending on the personnel needed.

The French House by Diva boasts a sophisticated and luxurious ambiance with Parisian influences. Once everything is set up, it looks quite romantic and perfect for an indoor Malay or Indian wedding.
It offers complete facilities, including chair and table rentals, a walkway, a podium, stage decoration, a PA system, spotlights, and a projector, among others.
If you loved the movie Beauty and the Beast growing up, you’d get a similar feel with the venue. It’s also as grand as it looks, as it can cater to up to 1000 people.
While they allow outside suppliers for catering and design, we noticed that guidelines can be strict. So, it might be easier to get them as the main supplier for critical services at the wedding.

They’ve just installed a new lighting system that is perfect for big events, along with a smoke machine that’s available for use at no extra cost.
Plus, it has ample parking for guests. It has four organized parking areas that can fit up to 500 cars.
